Do you want to learn more about Android? Come to MIT

Well the title of this article says everything, but I will give you a little idea of what it is about. It looks like the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is now opening a new class in Android software development. The class will be part of a new program focus on phone-based programming.
The head of the program will be Professor Hal Abelson and will be under Computer Science studies. In addition the course will be having guest lectures like Google’s Rich Miner, ConnectedBit’s Dave Mitchell and Eric Carlson, and MIT’s Rajeev Surati and Andrew Yu.
I’m not sure about the topics covered on the program however, it looks they will talk about Location Based Services which Google has already tipped as the next phase in cellphone use and mobile advertising.
"It’s definitely something that captures students’ interest. Given the fact that they actually have the devices, they want to do something with it" Andrew Yu, mobile devices platform coordinator, MIT
The classes make use of Android’s SDK and will split in teams of 3 or 4. However it is not confirmed if MIT will encourage or even allow students to submit their projects to Android Developer Challenge, which is a shame as they might develop some cool applications for Android.
