Call the guys for a beer using Fring on your mobile

I never heard about Fring before this post, however It looks like an interesting Idea. Fring is a VOIP company which developed a mobile application that allows users to connect and interact with their social networks on the go. The application goes from calls to live chat and integrate the main IM like Skype®, MSN® Messenger, Google Talk™, ICQ, SIP, Twitter, Yahoo!™ and AIM® and brings all your contacts into a big contact list.
You also can see when your contacts are available, and whether they are contactable by telephone regardless of the IM application they use. You’ll also get an indication as to what kind of connection they’re currently on (Wi-Fi, 3G and so on) so you can decide whether it’s worth calling them, or stick to chat.
How much does it cost was the first question I made, here it’s my surprise when I found out the application is completely free and it use the mobile internet connection rather than extra minutes.
This is not all. Fring this week announced a real time transfer added to the mobile application. There’s no need for MMS, cable, Bluetooth, or Infrared connections. The cost will be paid through your handset’s mobile internet capability using the already paid for data plan, meaning there’s no extra charges. The mobile application lets you swap files instantly from mobile to mobile or mobile to PC or Mac.
For the Iphone user it will might take a little longer to have this application as Fring haven’t release one for the Smartphone yet. However they are working to deliver that in 2008 along with a version for mobiles powered by Android OS.
This is a good idea to save money when you need to call the guys for a beer.
