Saturday, March 1st, 2008

Has been a long time since the MWC and the news about Android phone that came along with the event. and After a while without any news, here comes one that is completely amazing.  Darren Water from BBC went on a meeting with Google’s Android developer Andy Rubin; and despite demonstrating a alpha version of the software the mobile phone Rubin brought showed how Google will be a pain in the ass for Symbian and Windows Mobile.

No more XMPP support now only Gtalk

Android OS

In the first SDK, Google gave the support to XMPP as a protocol to make connections between two or more users at the same time, it means, a platform for VOIP, TXT, and many other things. However Google never intended to use support  XMPP.

Now with this new SDK released earlier on, the platform was changed for Gtalk, which for some developers is a pain, because they’ve already had some part of the project done and now it’s needed to be reviewed. On the other hand it’s good because we know that Google will provide all the support needed for this protocol.

Gphone from Samgung

It’s said that Samsung will have two phones based on Android OS for this year. One high end and a low cost. The first of them might start selling by September and the other one later on, around Christmas. That all right, until this point not really a big news, but a detail, those phones will come branded as GOOGLE instead of Samsung. Surprising. Anyway, the high end should looks like a Blackberry Perl and the low cost will be sold under $100 anytime at Christmas but of course it’s all just rumors that has not been denied "yet".

E28

Hey people, today was the second day of the GSM Mobile Congress, and to be honest, I saw a video from Phonemag which they are using the Google Android OS with a touch screen interface over the phone E28, and are far better than the damn boring movie from Gizmodo posted yesterday. Anyway, the interface looks ok. It’s not a great interface yet, but I’m sure this is just a "theme" for now and later on will be changed and i hope it get this interface.
